being creative
One of the main aims of the Magic Earth Theatre Society is to develop the creativity of the performers (and their parents).
From the inital concept of the production, the whole storyline is developed as a team. All creative ideas are explored and if they fit the general story line they will be added.
being a performer
Once a person has been given a role they have to think about how they are going to bring ot to life:
- how does the character move?
- how does it interact with other similar characters?
- what does it look like?
- what will its costume be made from?
The performer has a large input into their character.
Some of the characters in the River Magic are Raindrops, Herons, Invertebrates and Dragonflies. How would you interpret these?
Costumes
All the costumes are made by the performers (with a little help form their parents). During this process, they learn how to design and they need to remember that they may have to dance in the costume so while being creative they also develop problem solving skills. The costumes below are from the production of the Magic Tree.

Puppets - here are some photos
Large scale puppets are a part of the River Magic production and appear in an magical underwater scene. Flourescent paint and material were used so they glowed in the dark under a black light.
A couple of puppet workshops were held during the July school holidays. Check these photos out.

Further workshops
Well these are all over for now - but we'll keep you posted.
